Things I’ve Learned in Life

posted 2 years ago

awebslife:

It’s my 20th birthday, so I wanted to share some of the things that I’ve learned so far in my life.

Love

Time to let go: One of the hardest things in life is when you meet someone who means a lot to you, only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be and you have to let go.

Someone’s out there: There’s always somebody out there that’s willing to accept you and give you a chance.

Love for love: Regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion eventually fades. Don’t go for looks, they also fade and there better be something else to take its place.

You cannot force love: All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

Arguing with Love: Just because people argue, it doesn’t mean they don’t love each other.

Friends

Most people are nice: I’ve recently realized most people are nice, but usually not to strangers. Once you get to know each other, they will most likely seem really nice. But of course, you have to be nice also.

Trust is difficult: It takes years to build trust, and only seconds to destroy it.

Life is about caring: Those who don’t care about their job or families will soon lose it all. Their boss will realize they don’t care about the company or anyone in it and they’ll be kicked. Their friends will also eventually notice and also ditch.

Life

One Life: Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go, be what you want to be. Because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

Birth to Death: When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you’re the one smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Negative Before Positive: You need to get hurt and make mistakes or you won’t learn them. Negative events always come before positives in life.

Realize what Matters: Take an hour to make a list of everything that’s important to you. Add everything you want to do in your life to it. Now cut that list down to 4-5 things. Just the most important things in your life. This is your core list. This is what matters. Focus your life on these things. Make time for them.

What’s going on in your life that’s not on that short list? All that stuff is wasting your time, pulling your attention from what’s important. As much as possible, simplify your life by eliminating the stuff that’s not on your short list, or minimizing it.

Lie to Yourself: Come up with positive lies about yourself. If you believe you’re ugly, then your lie could be that you’re beautiful. Write the lie down and say it to yourself every day. You’ll soon notice you believe it.

Negative Brings Negative: Being negative only brings more negative: When you focus on negativity, that’s all you’ll see. Even when positivity comes into your life, you’ll only see the negative side of it.

Be nice: One of the big things I’ve learned from my dad before he passed away was to be nice.

Heroes Go For It: Heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

Your family won’t always be there for you. It may seem funny, how people you aren’t related to can take care of you and love you and teach you to trust people again. Families aren’t always biological.

You can become anything from anything. It doesn’t matter if you’re homless or living in a mansion, or if you’re failing every single class, it won’t stop you from reaching your dreams as long as you have the passion and talent.

Help others: Even if it’s just holding the door for someone, it will make you feel better. If you don’t want to help others, they won’t want to help you.

Have fun: Enjoy life as much as possible, don’t take everything too seriously. Push your worries aside and worry about what’s happening moment by moment. You should notice a great deal of relief.

Someone else has it worse: Every once in a while you’ll have a bad day, but stop yourself and think about it, there have to be millions of people out there who are having a worse day than you. Again, think positively and you’ll make it out feeling better.

You can change the world: Every single person has the ability to change the world whether directly or indirectly. When you change your life and the lives of those around you, you’ve changed the world. If you show up to work every day with a smile on your face, you could pass that on to your co-workers and they’ll pass it on to others. Also, they’ll notice it and want to be around you more.

“Good decisions come from experience, and experience comes from bad decisions.”

I hope these things I’ve learned in life will help you out in some way and maybe serve as some sort of advice to you. This is only half of my list, I will be posting the other half soon!

Response Time: Leave me a comment!
