Things I’ve Learned in Life - Pt.2
I want to share some of the things I’ve learned in my life. This is continuing from my previous post. Read the first half here.
Work
You have to look and create opportunities: They rarely ever come to you. You kinda have to work to find it to prove that you can handle whatever you’re looking for.
Follow your passion: If you have a passion for what you do and have fun at work, don’t focus on the money. Focus on the quality of your work and money will follow.
Live Life: Don’t leave the joy of retirement until you are too old to enjoy it. Do it now, while you’re young. It makes working that much more worth it. Find ways to take a year off every few years. Save up, sell your home, your possessions, and travel. Live simply, but live, without having to work. Enjoy life, then go back to work and save up enough money to do it again in a couple of years.
Set goals and follow them: Making money and accomplishing tasks is hard work, and you may need to set some small goals to accomplish large tasks. But it’s well worth it. You couldn’t imagine how much a to-do list can help.
Planning is good but being spontaneous is exciting: Planning ahead in life and work is important but after you’ve been planning everything for years, it gets dull. Other things will get in the way of your plans, so you have to ditch them sometimes. Be spontaneous every once in a while, it makes life interesting. Skip out for a couple days on a small weekend vacation.
People are multi-talented: You probably know about a talent you have such as drawing or singing but you probably have ten or more talents you don’t even recognize. When we find something we’re good at, we tend to only focus on that one thing instead of seeing everything else we’re good at.
Work hard with rewards: What the hell’s the point of work if you aren’t going to treat yourself along the way? Each goal you complete, whether big or small, should somehow be rewarded.
Money brings happiness: It’s a lousy way of keeping score and you shouldn’t be chasing money but when you earn it, you know you’ve accomplished something. It feels great and brings you happiness because you know you’ll have more freedom and time to do what you want now or later on down the road.
You need others: Make as many friends as you possibly can. The more people you know, the more opportunities and chances for success open up.
Failure is great: One of the most important steps to success is failure. You have to fail at least once, but it’s better if you’ve failed multiple times. You can learn so much more from your own failures than you could any other way. Once you achieve success, you’ll appreciate it much more.
Words and thoughts control everything: If you say you’re going to fail, then you’ll find a way to make it happen and you will fail. If you say you’re going to succeed, the same will happen, you’ll find a way.
Inspiration and motivation are everywhere: I don’t care where you are, there is something there that can motivate and inspire you. You can be at war in some far away country, in horrible conditions, but there will be something there to keep you going and strive for something better. You just have to recognize it and keep it with you.
Not Happy? Quit. If you’re only one percent not happy doing what you do, quit. It’s not worth your time or money. There are too many people doing things they hate and you can lose just as much money being happy as hell. There’s no excuse to be doing something you hate.
I hope these things I’ve learned in life will help you out in some way and maybe serve as some sort of advice to you.
Response Time: Leave me a comment!
What have you learned in life?
Loved everything, but the failures part. I have failed a couple of times, but I haven’t learned from those failures because I can’t seem to figure out what I have done wrong. I just can’t seem to figure out the problem.
